THE WORLD IS BETTER IF WE ARE TOGETHER

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the slogan contest “The World is Better When We Are Together”:

  • everyone who voted on-line,
  • all students who submitted a slogan entry,
  • everyone who assisted in the organization of the contest, and
  • the panel of judges.

We’d like to congratulate the 27 finalists, whose entries were posted on the project website and voted for by people in Ukraine, Canada, U.S.A, Argentina and even Australia! We received many positive comments from voters that all entries were creative, unique and showed that all students value inclusive education!

Over 200 votes were cast during the on-line voting process! These votes counted for 50% of the final result. The top 5 choices from the on-line voting are:

On Tuesday February 16 a panel of 5 judges chose the winner. Our judges were:

Maria Kalko

“I congratulate the winner of the contest, and wish her health, creative inspiration and many bright moments in your future!”

Maria is 16 years old. Having finished the tenth grade with honours, Maria is now studying in the eleventh grade at school # 256 in Kyiv, Ukraine. For seven years she has been studying at an art school, and would like to become a lawyer.

Tania Barantsova

Tania Barantsova

Tania is a leader in the civil movement of people with disabilities in Ukraine. She is the director of the only Centre of Sociocultural Adapation of Youth with Disabilities in Ukraine, and Vice Miss Ukraine in a wheelchair. She lives in Donetsk, Ukraine.

Victor Morozov

Victor Morozov – singer, composer, translator.

Established one of the first rock-band of Ukraine “Arnika” (1972); artistic director of the cabaret-theatre “Ne Zhurys!” (“Don’t Worry!”) (1988); laureate of the first “Chervona Ruta” (1989) music festival in Canada featuring artists from Ukraine. His musical discography has over 20 albums. Victor translated approximately 20 books of authors such as Roald Dahl, Paulo Coelho, Victor Malarek and more, as well as all seven Harry Potter books of J.K. Rowling.

Serhiy is the director of the National Press Club “Ukrainian Perspective”, specialist in Public Relations, author of “Municipal Media Technologies” for PR managers, professional journalist.

Ernie and Vivian Skakun

Ernie and Vivian Skakun

Ernie and Vivian are parents of Sheldon, a young adult with a disability. They are very familiar with the inclusive education system in the Province of Alberta. Both Ernie and Vivian are active participants of the project “Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Ukraine”.

The committee of judges selected the work of Iryna Pavlovych, a grade 10 student from school #60 in Lviv, as the winner of the contest. Iryna’s work illustrates that every child contributes to society and has the right to learn with their peers in the school of their choice. Iryna’s work will become the basis of the project slogan.
